I don’t celebrate Christmas or have a decorated tree; but then again I don’t celebrate Halloween either … I do not take offense at all to being wished a Merry Christmas (or Happy Halloween for that matter) … I do enjoy the feeling of warmth created by the decorations, subtle piped in music, exaggerated smells of pastries and the Hallmark Channel movies … however I do not like how the retail industry has exploited what was once considered a Religious, not Retail, Holiday and in turn their employees; and yes many times I’ve pondered where all those unsold deodorant and perfume sets sit for the next 10 months … I also wonder why only once a year do people stop everything, empty their wallets and bend over backwards to make sure they are with the people that mean the most to them; why are they less important the other 364 days … but then again I don’t understand the significance of dressing children up and escorting them to beg people for candy when the rest of the year we tell them not to take candy from strangers; not to mention the movies suck … so no matter where you are, what holiday you celebrate (if any) or who you will be with on December 25th, I wish you all a very safe and Merry Christmas!
